Good Morning, Everyone!

How was everyone's 4th of July?

I'm not into fireworks, so I spent the 4th watching the third season of Stranger Things on Netflix. Plus, my town had their fireworks event on June 28th.

It wasn't a great week for me. The central air (a.k.a. the air conditioning) kept shutting itself off every 20 seconds on Monday night, so a repairman had to come in on Tuesday afternoon to fix it. Let's just say it was really hot in the house by the time he showed up. The good news is that the broken part only cost $10, but with labor it was over $100. At least the central air unit didn't have to be replaced, unlike what happened with the hot water heater the previous week.

I guess bad luck comes in threes!

The washing machine drainage pipe goes through the bottom of the east wall, turns into the garage, and eventually turns again and goes in between the two concrete blocks that the hot water heater sits on. Then it goes straight down into the garage floor. Thanks to the hot water that leaked out of the old water heater last week, the seal for the PVC slip union that connects two of the pipes together had broke; which basically means when the washing machine drains the water leaks from the where the two pipes are connected. Luckily, I do know a thing or two about plumbing, so I was able to fix it myself.

FYI: My sore throat was gone by my midweek, but I currently have three canker sores! Yay, me!

What Am I Currently Reading?

I flew through Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. I'll post a review for it sometime this week. I took a short break from reading on the 4th to watch the new season of Stranger Things. My next read will be 1,000+ horror epic "IT" by Stephen King. I've owned an IT paperback for many years but I've never gotten up the nerve to read it. The 1989 miniseries scared me to death when I was a kid and I never got the courage to watch the second part of it until I was a teenager. I had rewatched the miniseries a couple of years ago and it's not as scary as I remember it to be. And, of course, I've seen the 2018's IT movie. This will be the first time I have read IT. I'm in a horror mood as of late, so it might not take me too long to read the novel.

New Blog

Speaking of horror, I made decision to give my post series "Midnight Horror Review" its very own blog  https://midnighthorrorreview.blogspot.com/. I'm not for sure if I'll get a domain for it. Currently, I'm posting snippets of the original Midnight Horror Review's posts from this blog, so I'll have enough content for about three weeks. The blog doesn't have any followers yet!

UPDATE:
I've decided to delete the new blog because maintaining one blog is enough "work" for one person. Therefore, I'll just continue posting Midnight Horror Review posts right here on this blog.

Good Afternoon, Everyone!

How is everyone doing on this Monday afternoon?

I'm doing alright for the most part. I spent the majority of Sunday sleeping as I was under the weather with a sore a throat. Thanks to several Halls cough drops, I'm feeling a lot better today!

After receiving three inches rain last weekend, it hasn't rained a drop since, which isn't a good thing as the temperature with humidity has been 100+ for several days.

Reading wasn't much of a priority for me last week. Several things came up (like always), such as the the water heater which had to be replaced. I had stepped into the downstairs laundry room/bathroom to find the floor flooded. My first thought was the washer machine was leaking, but I was wrong. Then I went into the garage and witnessed water shooting out the bottom of the nearly seven-year-old water heater. The replacement cost nearly $900.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I only read about 40% of Ring of Roses by Sara Clancy on my Kindle last week. To be completely honest, I had just forgotten about the eBook until this morning. Prior to watching Fear the Walking Dead last night, I started reading a few pages of Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. If you don't know, the television adaptation's second season is currently airing HBO. I haven't watch last night's episode yet. I'll watch it On Demand tonight. I read a few more pages early this morning. I'm currently on page 181.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Yep! I'm well aware today is not Sunday. I just didn't feel like posting a Sunday Post / It's Monday! What Are You Reading? yesterday, so you're getting it today!

After having a slight drought for nearly two weeks, it finally rained over the weekend! Over 3 inches to be exact. I thought about mowing the yard early this morning but decided against it. I'll give the yard a day to dry out. Plus, I just don't feel like mowing!

Besides from posting three movie reviews, my plans of catching up on reviews didn't pan out. I'm going to attempt to get a few things done today, including working on a sponsored project for this blog.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I finished reading The Son by Philipp Meyer early yesterday morning after reading more than half the book on Saturday. My review will be coming soon! I had won four eBooks from two LibraryThing giveaways last month and the publishing company finally sent me the books last week. One of those books happens to be Ring of Roses by Sara Clancy. It'll probably be my main read for the wee,k followed by the sequels Pocket of Posies and Ashes to Ashes, which came together as one giveaway prize. The other book I'd won is the anthology Terror in the Shadows: Volume 2.

Good Morning, Everyone!

It seems the Spring rainy weather isn't going to stop when Summer officially gets here on the 21st. The weird weather has made my sinuses and allergies go bonkers! I spent the first half of last week ill. I was so sick that I couldn't get anything done that I had planned. Thankfully, I was feeling better by Thursday, but a few things came up in my life that had to get done, so I had to put all my reviewing on this blog on the back burner for a few days. This week, I'm hoping to write two book reviews and several movie reviews. (Fingers Crossed!)

What Am I Currently Reading?

At long last, I've finally started reading The Son by Philipp Meyer. My goal is to finish reading it before the television series ends on June 29th. The pages are made from extremely thin paper and there are a total of 561 pages with really small lettering!

Good Morning, Everyone!

What Am I Currently Reading?

Here's a little fun fact for everyone: I used to be a Trekker! I grew up watching reruns of the original series, The Next Generation, and Deep Space Nine. Then I quickly left the franchise right after the campy Voyager series debuted in the mid-1990s. While I would no longer consider myself a Trekker by any means, I do occasionally watch an episode or two of the old series on Netflix. This year, I've found myself in a Star Trek mood after watching the first season of Star Trek: Discovery (I don't recommend it to anyone!), which resulted in me buying a few $.99 old Star Trek tie-in eBook. As you can see from the photo above I'm going to be reading Star Trek: The Captain's Oath by Christopher L. Bennett, which I'd received a review copy from Gallery Books just a few days ago. Pockets Books used to publish the Star Trek books, but this year Gallery Books took over the franchise. "The Captain's Oath" looks like a fun read.

Next, I'm planning on reading The Son by Philip Meyer, which is a title I'd mentioned about in last week's post. Originally, I wanted to read it at the end of last week, but I ended up reading an eBook instead.
