{Sunday Post} — All the Light We Cannot See, The Last House Guest, and Prairie Fire, Kansas

The Caffeinated Book Reviewer's Kimberly hosts a weekly meme called "The Sunday Post"!

* Weekly Tidbits *

  • There are no tidbits this week. The KC Chiefs game in Germany is airing this morning.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I didn't read a single book during the week. I don't know what I'm reading next; it'll probably be one of the books in the above image.

What's in the Mailbox?

I haven't been reviewing very many movies on this blog for many sorts of reasons that I won't discuss here. Now, here I am getting review copies for Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One and the 1963 French film Le Mepris (Contempt). I've viewed both films, and I'll work on my reviews this afternoon.

What's New on the Shelf?

Though not my usual foray, I bought All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. I plan on watching the Netflix miniseries, and I figured I would want to read the book.

Not pictured is Tom Clancy's Red Winter by Marc Cameron, which I picked up last weekend.

My local Dollar Tree continues to get in new batches of books. Yesterday, I picked up Ralph Compton's Prairie Fire, Kansas by John Shirley, The Ballad of Hattie Taylor by Susan Andersen, and Cher Ami and Major Whittlesey by Kathleen Rooney.

The thrift store continues to be a bust with no new (well, newish) books. I did grab a Say Goodbye by Lisa Gardner and a rough copy of The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda, which have been at the store for several weeks.

New Star Trek titles on my Kindle are Seasons of Light and Darkness by Michael A. Martin, Section 31: Rogue by Andy Mangels & Michael A. Martin, Section 31: Cloak by S.D. Perry, Section 31: Abyss by David Weddle & Jeffery Lang, Section 31: Disavowed by David Mack, and Section 31: Control by David Mack.

  1. I'm watching the game right now. Miami's OL needs to give Tua more time to throw.

    1. I thought the game was boring for the first half, turned off the TV until the fourth quarter.

  2. There are always weeks where we don't read as much or at all. It happens. Hopefully you'll get back into your reading game this week if you're looking to do so!

    Nice new reads! These are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy each and every one of them!

  3. Great song. Nice Star Trek. Sulu was just at my local comic con yesterday. I didn't see him but he was the highest profile guest.
