{Sunday Post} - Dune & Reacher Overload

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

Like many other people, I've been keeping my eye on the news over the past few days. My nasal congestion issues cleared up midweek, right before I pulled something in my lower back. For three straight nights, I could barely sleep because of the pain. And getting out of bed was a difficult task. Sitting in a desk chair was also an issue. Even sitting in a recliner was uncomfortable at times. The stiffness has gone away, and I am almost back to normal beside some soreness.

What Am I Reading?

I didn't read much during the week. I spent most of my free time binge-watching The Punisher on Netflix before it reverts to Disney on March 1st. As of this writing, I have six episodes left!

As I mentioned in my 'Coffee, Frenzy, and Soho' post, a bookmark is inside Delayed Days of a Star to read on Saturday. Between watching The Punisher and writing a review for To Disguise the Truth, I didn't have time to read it. I'll start reading Delayed Days of a Star on Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. Next, Malicious Intent is on my to-be-read list, though I might read another Dark Shadows ebook beforehand.

What's in the Mail?

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment sent me Belfast on Blu-ray, which I have yet to watch. I believe the release day is March 1st, so I'll try to have it reviewed by Tuesday.

Sometime during the week, Revell sent over the paperback Until Leaves Fall in Paris by Sarah Sundin.

I now own all of the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child. I had ordered Die Trying, Tripwire, No Middle Name, and A Wanted Man from Hamilton Books a few weeks back, and they arrived in two different packages at the tail-end of the week.

My Amazon order got delayed a few days because of a mild snowstorm. I ordered Say You're Sorry by Karen Rose, the first book in the Sacramento series. I already own books two and three, so getting the first book was a must-have. The other book I got is The Winds of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. It's the second in the Heroes of Dune two-book prequel series. I already own the first book, Paul of Dune, on my Kindle.

What's New On The Bookshelf?

I picked up three books at my local thrift store - The Classic Fantasy Collection, Bluebeards Egg and Other Stories by Margaret Atwood, and The House Without a Key by Earl Derr Biggers.

I don't recall the exact day, but Amazon sent me a $5 off email deal on five Dune ebooks that I had on my wishlist. I couldn't pass it up. I got Sisterhood of Dune, Mentats of Dune, Navigators of Dune, Dune: The Machine Crusade, and Dune: The Battle of Corrin. Sisterhood of Dune cost $5.99, and the rest were $4.99 each. I now own all the Dune prequel books.

  1. You have an interesting mailbox! Books from publishers are few and far between these days for me, especially since I get their ARCs from Netgalley. Hope you get to review Belfast in time. Have a good reading week.

  3. Sorry to hear about the back pain! I had that once (a pulled muscle or somethign where I could barely even sit)- it was pretty awful.

Until Leaves Fall looks like a good one. How are you liking the Dark shadows e books?

I LOVE that cover for House without a Key.

  4. I'm sorry to hear about your back pain. I'm glad you're feeling better.

It seems like you're a huge Dune fan. Dune is my all-time favorite book. I read it 3 times before I knew it was part of a series. By then, I was scared to continue on because I didn't want a "bad series" to ruin my love for Dune, which works as a stand-alone. I've heard the first three books in the series are actually really good, but then the series get really weird. What do you think?

  5. That's quite an eclectic mix of books! I am currently reading To Disguise the Truth and I also have Malicious Intent from Net Galley. I hope you have a great week!
