He studied her silently, his handsome face now shadowed with the torment of his thoughts. "You must have heard something about my history." His voice was almost harsh.

My Thoughts

From 1966 to 1972, William Ross published 32 Dark Shadows tie-in novels under Marilyn Ross. The first 16 titles are available to read for free on Kindle Unlimited. I'm trying out a 3-month trial of the service. I read 52% of Dark Shadows this morning. The story stays pretty close to the first few episodes of the original soap opera with Victoria Winters arriving at the Collinwood mansion to be the governess for David Collins.

  1. Reminds me of a Nancy Drew book. :-) Happy weekend!

    1. The cover does resemble a Nancy Drew cover. I don't know the name of the artist. The first four or five Dark Shadows books had original artwork, and the rest used still from the series for the covers.

    1. There were 32 tie-ins during the series run, and I believe the two '70s films had novelizations. Later, actress Lara Parker, who played Angelique, wrote three or four Dark Shadows novels.

  4. I remember the name of the series but I never watched a single episode. I take the books are quick, fun reads? My Friday Quotes are here

    1. Dark Shadows aired from 1966 to 1971. Two films in the 1970s and a short-lived reboot series in 1991. Then there was the Tim Burton movie that was more of a spoof than a remake.

The first book is only 144 pages, so, yeah, it was a quick read. Fun? It's a gothic romance, so it wasn't fun, fun, but it was well written. I haven't written a review for it yet, but I would give it 4 out of 5.
