The first month of 2020 is nearly over, and I, for one, can hardly believe it. Where has the time gone?
January has been a stressful month for me, especially with this blog, which got a bit of a redesign. And when I say "redesign," I actually mean an entire "overhaul." Because I was focused on other things, it completely slipped my mind about posting my New Year's Resolutions. To be completely honest, originally I wasn't going to make any resolutions this year because for the past few years I have failed every one all of them. However, I need to make a few changes in my life so instead of having resolutions, I have set a several personal goals to accomplish.
Dating
Yes, I have rambled on quite a bit in the last year about my
non-existent love life but dating happens to be one of my top
priorities. Or at least I should attempt to put myself out there more than what I
have done in the past.
Now I don't have any sort of a plan when it comes to dating. I might try to find a girlfriend (and hopefully potential wife) the old fashioned way by approaching a woman, starting a conversation and see where it goes from there.
My other option is take another try at online dating. My previous experiences weren't thrilling. However, the dating websites I tried out were the "free" ones. Plus, I didn't exactly put in my best effort with my profile description and my photos should have been better. There are a slew of dating websites out there, such as eHarmony, silver-dating.com, Zoosk, and FirstMet. Also, there are dating sites in just about every niche imaginable, even ones for animal lovers, senior dating, nerds, and even bookworms.
Fitness
2019 was not a great year for me, especially when it came to my health. While I did start the year right by lifting weight, that quickly faded away when a family emergency occurred and I never bounced back into a daily exercise routine, which resulted in a 30+ weight gain. I kicked off the beginning of 2020 by exercising ― for one day! I have no idea what happened there besides from the lack of motivation.
After several false starts, I'm finally on a healthy diet that includes lots of vegetables and fruits. I'm now on a apple cider vinegar diet, which I'm drinking 1tbsp of apple cider vinegar mixed with a cup of water every morning. It tastes as awful as it sounds. However, I have read good things about this diet so I'm going to give it a try for at least a month and see what happens with it.
Back to exercising, I'm definitely going to give it another shot, though I'm undecided what workout program to do. I have a tons of workout DVDs so I have plenty to choose from. Then there's always the stationary bike collecting dust in the corner of my bedroom. I can always ride it while listening to some tunes.
Writing
I would like to write more in 2020. And, no, I'm not talking writing posts for this blog. Once upon a time, I used to write fictional stories, some children tales and horror shorts. A few of these stories even got published in magazines, ezines, and anthologies.
Why did I quit writing?
I hit a brick wall or otherwise known as the dreaded writer's curse - the writer's block.
I did make an attempt to write a novel at last year's NaNoWriMo. While all other participants made a goal of 50,000 words, I made a goal of 1,000 words, which I achieved! Lol! November was a busy month for me so I knew I had no time to write a novel. At the last minute I came up with a title for a Gothic horror story and joined the event. I had absolutely no plot and I struggled to get a 1,000 words. However, I'm proud of what I wrote. I thought it was excellent writing.
Anyway, I would love to find the time start writing everyday again. It doesn't matter if it's a short story or novel, I just want to write something!
Do you have any New Year's Resolutions or goals for 2020?
I failed at almost all of my resolutions last year, but that didn’t stop me from making them this year. Good luck with your goals! Writing more and exercising more are my goals too.
