Q&A with Sienna Snow, author of Rule Breaker

Now available from Forever Yours (an imprint of Hachette Book Group) is the erotic-romance Rule Breaker from author Sienna Snow.

The author has taken a few minutes out of her busy schedule for a Q&A about her newest novel.

When did you become interested in storytelling?

I’ve had a love for weaving stories since I was a child. My sister and I shared a room while growing up and many nights I would create adventures for my sister to listen to before she fell asleep.

What was your first book/story published?

Rule Breaker is my first published novel or original story. I have been part of a few publication while in college and during my consulting career, but noting in the creative writing realm.

What inspired you to write Rule Breaker?

I wrote Rule Breaker for many reasons. The first was because I was tired of reading books where the powerful billionaire rescues the naïve girl and introduces her to a word sexual discovery. The second was because many books I’d read with BDSM elements had a heroine or hero who’d dealt with some sort of psychological trauma to make them enjoy the kink life style. There a many healthy individuals who enjoy the lifestyle without suffering from any mental issues. Lastly, I could only find a handful of books where the female lead was as powerful, if not more than, the male lead of the book. I wanted to write a book where super smart and successful women found their happily ever after.

What character in Rule Breaker is the most/least like you, and in what ways?

Each of the characters in Rule Breaker has a small part of me in them.

Arya Rey the lead of the book has a tendency to swear a lot. This is something I try to curb, but usually fail miserably. Milla Castra, Arya’s best friend, is an all business, type A girl. My friends and family accuse me of being like that quite often.

Carmen Dane, Arya’s other best friend, has a need for control at all time. Unless, she’s in charge, then she’s not happy. Not having control of situations is a very hard thing for me. I like to plan and have an agenda. I’ve gotten better at relinquishing control over the past few years, but I am still a work in progress.

What is your favorite part in Rule Breaker?

My favoriate part of Rule Beaker besides the over the top sex, is Arya’s relationship with her Aunt. It shows the deep love a non-biological parent can have for their child.

What was the hardest part to write?

Since we are never in, Max, the hero’s point of view, I found it hard at time to make sure I conveyed his emotions and feelings in my writing.

What would your ideal career be, if you couldn't be an author?

My ideal career would be a world-traveling chef. I love to travel and I love to cook, combining the two would give me my all-time ideal career.

Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you pay any attention to them, or let them influence your writing?

This is my first book release, so I am still learning how to handle reviews. As with anyone, I love reading the positive reviews. As for the negative ones, I have to learn to compartmentalize them and accept that my writing may not mess well with some readers.

What well-known writers do you admire most?

I love Jane Austen. She was a trailblazer for her time, writing about smart and strong women who lived during an era when women had little or no rights whatsoever.

Another author, who I believe many romance authors admire, is Nora Roberts. She has had one of the longest and most versatile careers of any author. She continuously weaves characters and stories that keep readers wanting more. She can move in and out of genres with ease and builds worlds readers wish were real.

Do you have any other books/stories in the works?

I just finished editing my second book, Rule Master. The second in the Rules Series follows the ups and downs of Milla Castra’s relationship with her husband, Lex Duncan, following her kidnapping by arms dealers. Rule Master is scheduled for release on March 7, 2017.

I am also in the middle of writing book three, Rule Changer. This book follows Carmen Dane and her relationship with another dominant, Thomas Regala as they navigate a relationship where both of them are used to taking charge and making the rules.

About the Author: Born in London, England, Sienna Snow moved to the USA at the age of five. From an early age, she learned to balance two cultures, keeping the traditions of the Indian while learning the ins and outs of the American.

Her love of reading started at a very young age with “Beezus and Ramona.” By the time she entered high school, a girlfriend introduced her to Bertrice Small and Jude Deveraux (much to the horror of the nuns at her Catholic school), and an avid romance reader was born.

Writing was her childhood aspiration, but her loving parents encouraged her to seek a “real job.” So, she placed her secret passion on hold and went on to receive two bachelor’s degrees and two masters degrees.

After a prolific career as a management consultant and the completion of her husband’s medical degree, she became a stay at home mom and PTO Goddess.

Sienna has a deep-rooted love for travel and planning vacations years in advance. Her goal is to visit all seven continent in the next ten years.

When she is not writing, traveling, or reading, she spends her time with her husband and two children.

Sienna writes sexy romance, some with a lot of heat and spice and others with a bit of fantasy. Her characters represent strong women of different cultures and backgrounds, who seek love through unique circumstances.
