Trial And Error - Ronnie’s Journey To A Healthy Lifestyle

Its officially 2014! I'm assuming many people (including myself) are waking up bright and early to exercise as part of their New Year's Resolution. I'm kicking off the 1st with an article by a fellow writer (Not me!).

Ronnie was always a slightly plump girl, even as a child. She had an unhealthy body image from an early age, leading her to compare herself to her ‘thinner’ friends. This lead to years of erratic eating, with periods of extreme dieting annulled by periods of binge eating.

Struggling with Weight and Low Self Esteem

Throughout high school, college and graduate school, Ronnie struggled with her weight, never really finding a solution that was both healthy and sustainable. Every year in college she would gain 10 lb reaching over 200 lb. Then, after her first baby, she decided to try Weight Watchers.

Struggling with a weight problem often leaves a certain mark on one’s personality. Sometimes it makes you more sensitive to criticism and in Ronnie’s case, it left her with a lack of confidence and negative self-image. It was not until she and her husband decided to start a family that she realized that she could not raise a confident and happy child if she herself was lacking in those qualities.

During her first pregnancy she gained 70 lb. She and her husband started Weight Watchers together just two weeks after the birth of her son. She lost 11 pounds in her first month and from then she was hooked.

Freedom to Eat What She Wanted

Weight Watchers ended up suiting Ronnie much more than she had imagined. She, like most overweight people, was passionate about her food, never wanting to be limited to a certain food group or a monotonous eating pattern. Weight Watchers gave her the freedom of diversity, allowing her to pick what she wanted to eat as long as she remained within her daily point quota. This is why Weight Watchers is not a diet. It’s flexible enough to fit your life. To learn how Weight Watchers work, read testimonies, and avail promotional codes have a look at WeightLossTriumph.com.

Ronnie has always been an avid blogger, currently running multiple blogs about her life. Journaling her progress and talking about her difficult days online was what kept her going. She felt that when she wrote about her day in all honesty and put it out there for the world to see, it made her feel more accountable to herself. She also started posting weekly pictures on her progress, or lack thereof, to create a timeline of her crossing over to the other side.

Participating in Tough Mudders

Besides watching what she ate, Ronnie also started pushing herself outside her comfort zone. By keeping herself physically active, she learned that her weight loss became a lot more sustainable, giving her more energy to juggle her various roles. By slowly adding new and more challenging exercise regimes to her schedule, finally she decided to become a Tough Mudder. She now trains as a mudder on a regular basis and flies across the US, taking part in various marathons and events.

After the birth of her second son, there was another shift in Ronnie’s perspective. She no longer wanted to be just skinny, she wanted to be healthy. This is when she started her Tough Mudder program to build up her muscles and become a stronger, more confident version of herself. By meeting other people in the program, Ronnie built a little support group for herself. This motivated her to start her blog on helpful tips for fellow weight watchers and the life hacks that she learnt from her struggle. Ronnie has kept her weight off for 6 years now, living a much happier and healthier life.
