Welcome to the Book Blogger Hop!
This Week's Prompt:
How do you feel about the current state of romance novels?╍Submitted by Billy, Coffee-Addicted Writer.
My Answer:
Believe it or not, I've immersed myself in one too many romance novels. I can't quite explain it—maybe I was just going through a phase. You can find my poorly written reviews somewhere on this blog. Anyway, I don't keep up with the current state of the romance genre. Besides the Harlequin titles, I hardly see any traditional romances anymore. The shelves are filled with overpriced YA fantasies that just collect dust. I live in a small town in Missouri, and the few readers we have aren't particularly interested in those specific books, even though publishers are shoving them down our throats. Does anyone else read romances?

I guess it always just depends on how we classify a romance as well. To me, I don't read romances. I read books with romance in them. The difference is that the romance is just a side element of the plot. The story does not revolve around the romance. It just happens. I feel like it is a thriving genre with so many sub genres that any reader can find something they're looking for.

I haven't had much luck with romances lately. But it's probably just me. So many people love them!

ReplyDeleteThe hard and true authors still give us beautifully written, heartfelt romance — writers like Catherine Bybee, whose stories are layered with emotion, resilience, and love that quietly stays with you long after the final page.
And yes… people are definitely still reading romance. I know I am. 😊
Happy Reading! 💛
