Description
Sew quilts in the instantly recognizable style of Kansas Troubles Quilters--two ways! Some designs are traditionally pieced, simplified for smooth and easy piecing. Others use Lynne's clever layered-patchwork technique, where pinked-edge precuts reduce cutting time, minimize bulky seams, and skip pressing steps. The raw edges of layered-patchwork blocks barely fray when washed, giving a fluffy, snuggly finish. You'll love the look of both kinds of quilts: cozy, country-style designs that call out "cuddle me!"

About the Author

Lynne Hagmeier and her husband, Robert, live outside of Bennington, Kansas, where she grew up. They work together at the KT Quilt Shop, hosting quilting retreats, traveling to quilt guilds and shops across the United States, and teaching on quilting cruises. Downtime is spent relaxing with their brood of six kids and nine grandkids scattered across the Midwest. A social worker in her first life, Lynne feels blessed to work in a business with creative women who live their dreams through fabric and quilts. Visit Lynne's website at: www.ktquilts.com

My Thoughts

If you've been following my Holiday Gift Guide this year, then you would notice a "quilting theme" in many of the posts. I have several quilters and crafters in my family, which is the main reason why I wanted to feature quilting related products as a gift ideas.

Today, I'm featuring the recently released quilting book, titled "Kansas Troubles Quilters: Cozy Quilts & Comforts" by Lynne Hagmeier. The book begins with a two-page introduction by the author, where she gives a brief history of the "Kansas Troubles Quilters" and talks about her "Layered Patchwork" method, which happens to be the theme of most of the patterns in this book. If you're not familiar with the technique, don't worry, as there are four pages explaining how to do the"Layered Patchwork" method with step-by-step photos. Actually, there are several step-by-step diagrams with every project in the book, showing you exactly what to do.

The  quilting patterns in the book are:

Mending Fences
(Layered Patchwork Lap Quilt & Runner)

Candle In The Window
(Traditional Quilt & Layered Patchwork Quilt)

Kansas Troubles
(Traditional Lap Quilt & Pillow)

Galaxy Of Stars
(Traditional Lap Quilt & Layered Patchwork King-Size Quilt)

Prairie Pinwheels
(Layered Patchwork Lap Quilt & Mini-Quilt)

XS And OS
(Layered Patchwork Lap Quilt & Pillow Topper)

Skipping Stones
(Layered Patchwork Lap Quilt)

Kaleidoscope
(Layered Patchwork Lap Quilt & Mini-Quilt)

Spinning Stars
(Layered Patchwork Lap Quilt & Runner)

Kansas Troubles Too
(Layered Patchwork Lap Quilt & Traditional Mini-Quilt)

Checkerboard Garden
(Traditional Wall Quilt)

Overall, I do like the Kansas Troubles Quilters: Cozy Quilts & Comforts book. All the pictures of the quilting projects are beautiful. The pattern diagrams are colorful and are easy to follow. The instructions for each project are well-written and are also easy to follow. While I do like all the patterns, my two favorites are the Galaxy Of Stars lap quilt and the Checkerboard Garden wall quilt.

The Kansas Troubles Quilters: Cozy Quilts & Comforts quilting book would be a wonderful gift for any quilter!
