The series centers on an ex-con (played by Antony Starr), who had spent the last fifteen-years in prison for apparently stealing $15 million in diamonds. Anastasia is now living in Banshee, Pennsylvania (Amish country) under the name Carrie Hopewell, where she married and raised two children during the last fifteen-years.

With a ruthless crime boss, Rabbit' Rabitov (played by Ben Cross), hot on his trail, he takes the identity of the Banshee's newly-appointed sheriff, Lucas Hood, who was killed in a bar fight. Though the town is part of the Amish country, there is plenty of murders & crimes to keep Lucas busy.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise. It's hard to believe that a low-budget science fiction television series from the 1960s is still popular today, let alone has become a huge worldwide franchise with 6 spinoff series (counting next year's yet to-be-titled series), 13 feature films, and countless merchandise.

The first Star Trek novelizations were published from 1967 from Bantam Books, which mostly contained short stories adapted from the television scripts; though original novels followed. Bantam Books continued to publish more titles until 1981. From 1974 to 1978, Ballantine Books published Star Trek titles. Then Pocket Books began publishing Star Trek books in 1979 and still releases at least one new title a month since then.

Being released to bookstores this week from Pocket Books is Star Trek: Legacies - Captain To Captain, book one in the special 50th Anniversary Trilogy. Written by Greg Cox, "Captain To Captain" is set in the year 2267, several months after the diplomatic conference on Babel ("Journey to Babel") which took place during the second season of the original series.

"Captain To Captain" begins with Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock and the rest of the U.S.S. Enterprise awaiting for the small cargo ship, Shimizu, to dock in their landing bay. The only passenger is Una, the captain of the U.S.S. Yorktown. She also happens to be the former crew-member of the space ship Enterprise; first serving under the command of Captain Robert April and then as "Number One" for Captain Christopher Pike. Both Kirk and Spock believe she is there to learn of what really happened to Christopher Pike, who is now listed as "missing in action."

However, Una's true intentions for coming back to the Enterprise are a little bit startling. It seems there is a secret that is handed down "captain to captain" throughout the years.

Growing up in the 1990s in a small town there's wasn't much to do on the weekends except for watching a movie on television; though nowadays, finding a good flick to watch is hard to do with all the awful reality shows in the way. It seems all the good movies of the past have simply disappeared. Luckily for us, many old movies are now available on purchase on DVD.

Now available to purchase on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment is Hammer Films Collection - Volume Two, featuring six flicks - The Revenge of Frankenstein, The Snorkel, Never Take Candy From A Stranger, The Maniac, Die! Die! My Darling!, and Creatures The World Forgot.

Hammer Films put their own mark on Mary Shelley's classic tale with their own Frankenstein franchise. Directed by Terence Fisher, The Revenge of Frankenstein was released in 1958 (a sequel to the 1957 The Curse of Frankenstein). After escaping death by guillotine, Baron Victor Frankenstein (played by Peter Cushing), travels to Carlsbruck, where he is now working as a doctor under the name Dr. Stein. Unfortunately, he cannot escape his past as Dr. Hans Kleve recognizes him and blackmails him into letting Dr. Kleve become his apprentice.

The Revenge of Frankenstein

Directed by Guy Green, The Snorkel was released in 1958.  The thriller centers on a teenager named Candy (played by Mandy Miller), who is investigating the strange death of her mother. All clues points to her stepfather Paul Decker (played Peter van Eyck) as the killer, but Mandy must figure out how he killed her mother.

Directed by Cyril Frankel, Never Take Candy From A Stranger (also known as Never Take Sweets From A Stranger), was released in 1960. Set in Canada, the story centers on a nine-year-old Jean who tells her parents that she and her friend, Lucille, went into an old man's house, Clarence Olderberry Sr, where they danced naked in exchange for candy. While the girl thinks she has done nothing wrong, the parents believe otherwise and informs the authorities of what has happened. Sadly, Clarence Olderberry Sr's family is highly respected with connections everywhere, leaving everyone to believe he is innocent of the crime.

Many short-lived television series have found new life thanks to DVD releases. Arriving on DVD from Shout! Factory for the first time in the United States on June 28th is Two Guys and a Girl: The Complete Series, featuring all 81 episodes on 11-discs. There are no special features or bonus extras.

Created by Danny Jacobson, Kenny Schwartz and Rick Wiener, the series was original titled "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place" when it premiered on ABC as a mid-season replacement in 1998, consisting of 13 episodes.

The first season centered on three twenty-somethings best friends - the smart aleck Michael Leslie "Berg" Bergen (played by Ryan Reynolds, Deadpool), the neurotic Peter "Pete" Dunville (Richard Ruccolo, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and the beautiful Sharon Carter (Traylor Howard, Monk), who are all trying to fit into the real world after finishing college. Well, at least Sharon is; Berg has just been accepted to medical school and Pete has a few more months of graduate school left. In the meantime, the guys are working at Beacon Street Pizza, which is owned by Bill (played by Julius Carry). Rounding out the rest of the cast was David Ogden Stiers as Mr. Bauer and Jennifer Westfeldt as Pete's girlfriend, Melissa.

There were many changes for the second season, and only the characters Pete, Sharon and Berg returned, the others were dropped from the series and never mentioned again. Two recurring characters were added to the series, Sharon's boyfriend (and later husband) Johnny (played by Nathan Fillion, Castle) and Berg's love interest Ashley (played by Suzanne Cryer, Silicon Valley). Later in the season, Pete's cat-crazy neighbor and stalker, Irene (played by Jillian Bach, Courting Alex), appeared in her first two episodes.

I'm sure many people cringe every time they hear the word "remake." In recent years, Hollywood has remade movie after movie, and almost all of them have been complete disasters.

Tonight, the Disney Channel will premiere their 100th original movie, titled Adventures In Babysitting, a remake of the 1987 classic comedy. The film will quickly arrive on DVD on June 28th. The only special features on the single-disc is Adventures In Outtakes - Watch these never-before-seen cast bloopers and laugh yourself silly! The DVD comes with a FREE Magnetic Photo Frame.

The remake centers on two high school seniors, Jenny Parker (played by Sabrina Carpenter) and Lola Perez (played by Sofia Carson), who accidentally switches cell phones while applying for a summer internship program. The girls are complete opposites of each other. Jenny is mature for her age, while Lola is free-spirited and never listens to the rules.

After receiving a call on Jenny's cell about a babysitting job, Lola poses as her and agrees to babysit Trey, Bobby and AJ Anderson. It seems like an easy way to make $20 an hour, but things go horribly wrong when the oldest kid, Trey, goes missing.

Jenny eventually figures out that her cell has been switched and heads over to the Anderson's house to retrieve it with the two kids, Katy and Emily Cooper, she is babysitting in tow. When Jenny realizes that Lola had lost Trey, she takes action and finds a few clues that pinpoints Trey's location. It seems he headed to the city to buy concert tickets at a pawn shop.

Jenny borrows the Anderson's car, dragging Lola and all the kids with her to big city to hunt for Trey. Sadly, things don't go as plan when the car gets towed away and two criminals are chasing after them.

 Wow! This is a good question this week. I don't know if I have a favorite fictional couple. The only couple that pops into my mind is Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton from The Southern Vampire Mysteries series by Charlaine Harris.

I originally planned on posting this review on 2nd of the month, but several things came up, so I delayed the review until today.

First published by Parachute Press in 1994, 99 Fear Street: The House Of Evil: The Third Horror by R.L. Stine picks up two years after the ending of the first installment. While absent from the second book, Kody Frasier is now an actress who is hired to play her sister Cally in a horror movie about the events that took place at 99 Fear Street.

Upon arriving at the house, Kody can feels the presence of her sister Cally, who is still in the ghostly realm inside the house. Playing the role of her sister in the film is a difficult thing to do, but it gave her an excuse to return to the house once more, so she can find away to say goodbye to Cally.

Shortly after production starts, several strange events occurs as well several accidents. Despite the setbacks, production of the film continues. However, the house is pure evil and it has other plans for everyone inside it.

During my middle school years in the early 1990s, I always had a Point Horror novel in my backpack. I was addicted to those horror stories and I just couldn't get enough of them. One of my favorite book series back then was called "Fear Street" written by R.L. Stine.

The series centered on a fictional town of Shadyside, Ohio, where the "Fear Street" was located at. Centuries ago, an evil man named Simon Fier (later changed to Fear) killed innocent souls on the land where Fear Street now lies, and the street just happens to be cursed.

Many of the "Fear Street" books are standalone stories; though there are a few spinoffs with continuing storylines, like 99 Fear Street; Cheerleaders; Fear Street Sagas, etc.. R.L. Stine revived the series in October 2014 with Party Games; followed by Don't Stay Up Late, and The Lost Girl.

Now available to purchase in bookstores from St. Martin's Griffin is the newest installment, titled Can You Keep A Secret?: A Fear Street Novel. The novel centers on Emmy (Emma), a high school teen who has suffered from nightmares ever since she was bitten by a dog when she was a little kid. As a teenager, she is into everything a girl her age should be into, like driving around town and hanging out with her new boyfriend, Eddie.

Ever since his step-father was suspended from the police department, Eddie has been trying to provide for his family; which means he takes any job he can get, including working at a pet cemetery.

Late one night, Eddie and Emmy head out to the Fear Street woods to hang out with their friends and drink beer. That's when they stumble upon a bag full of hundred-dollars bills. Eddie instantly believes this is the answer to his family's money problems, but Emmy convinces him to hide the money until they can figure out if someone had stolen it.

With the money hidden safely in the pet cemetery, Eddie, Emmy and their friends are going to wait it out before splitting the money. However, something terrible happens - the money disappears from the hiding spot. Did one of their friend's take it? Or has the original owner come back to claim the money?

Now available on DVD from Shout! Factory is Power Rangers: Ninja Storm: The Complete Series. The five-disc set features all 33-episodes from eleventh season of the popular franchise. This marks the first time a season was filmed in New Zealand, and the second season to be in the hands of Disney (BVS).

Using costumes, props, monsters, zords and footage from the Japanese Super Sentai series Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger, Power Rangers Ninja Storm centers on three teenagers, Tori (played by Sally Martin), Shane (played by Pua Magasiva) and Dustin (played by Glenn McMillan), who all live in Blue Bay Harbor. While at first glance they just look like your average teenagers, but they are actually students at the secret ninja school called the Wind Ninja Academy.

After the academy is the attacked by an evil banished ninja master, Lothor (played by Grant McFarland), he captures most of the students and turns their master, Sensei Kanoi Watanabe. into a guinea pig. The only survivors besides Sensei (voiced by Grant McFarland) and his son, Cam, are Tori, Shane and Dustin. The latter three are given morphers that gives them powers to transform into Wind Rangers. Along with the ability to summon zords, the Rangers battle Lothor's monsters throughout the series.

Later, the Wind Rangers join forces with the Thunder Rangers (played by Adam Tuominen and Jorgito Vargas, Jr.), and Cam (played by Jason Chan) becomes the Green Samurai Ranger.

Being released on Blu-ray and DVD from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is the political-thriller Eye In The Sky. Directed by Gavin Hood, the film stars Academy Award Winner Helen Mirren (Trumbo, The Queen), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Need for Speed), Academy Award Nominee Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips), Ian Glen (Game of Thrones, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider) and the late Alan Rickman (Die Hard, Harry Potter) in his final on-screen performance.

Filmed in South Africa, Eye In The Sky centers on British Colonel Katharine Powell (played by Helen Mirren), who is in command of the international mission to take down terrorists in Kenya. With limited time before two suicide bombers kills innocent lives, Colonel Powell receives orders to bomb the building that the terrorists are located in.

Things don't go as planned as a young girl gets close to the building. Noticing the girl on his screen, Steve Watts (played by Aaron Paul), one of the two pilots controlling the drone in the area, puts a halt at bombing the building until he gets reconfirmation of the order.

Bonus Features on the Blu-ray includes:

No matter what your faith is, I believe it is important for everyone to read the whole Bible at least once. The Bible has many adult themes, but there are a few water-down versions of the Bible as well as storybooks for children.

At one time Paul was named Saul, who disliked Jesus and his followers. Saul made it his personal mission to stop the followers by throwing them into jail.

The 22-page picture book centers on Brother and Sister Bear getting ready to go back to school, while their little sister Honey is getting ready to start nursery school. Both Brother and Sister are excited about seeing their classmates. Brother can't wait to learn more about history and Sister is looking forward to showing off her math skills.

Sadly, Brother and Sister aren't very good at some subjects, so Brother helps Sister with her history lessons and Sister helps Brother with his math.

Meanwhile, Honey is extremely nervous about going to school and she fears she will miss her parents as soon as they drop her off.

Now available to own on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD from Twentieth Fox Home Entertainment is the feel-good movie Eddie The Eagle. Directed by Dexter Fletcher, the film stars Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) and Hugh Jackman (The Wolverine).

Based upon the real 1988 British Olympic skier Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, Taron Egerton stars in the title role, a young man who has always dreamed of winning an Olympic gold metal ever since he was a ten-year-old! While at first his goal was to find a sport that he was good at to participate in a future Summer Games, he quickly finds out that he isn't good at anything. However, that doesn't stop him as he sets a new goal to participate as a skier in a future Winter Games, but first he will have to learn how to ski.

As an adult, Eddie is now a great skier, but he is rejected by British Olympic officials. Most people would give up by now, but Eddie is determined to go to Olympics no matter what. He comes up with the idea to be a ski jumpier, but he will have to teach himself how to jump. Against his father's wishes, he heads off to the training facility in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

Sadly, Eddie slowly learns that jumping from a high distance isn't as easy as it looks. After several failed attempts at jumping the 40-meter (130 ft) hill, Eddie enlists Bronson Peary (played by Hugh Jackman), a former skier turned drunken snow groomer, to train him. Due to a loophole in the British Olympic rules, Eddie qualifies for the Winter Games by jumping 61 meters (200 ft).

Last month, when I signed up to review Justified by Varina Denman, David C. Cook publishing nicely sent me the first two books in the Mended Heart series (Jaded & Justified) to read first. Instead of writing two separate posts, I decided to feature my reviews for the two titles in a single one.

Set in small Texas town, Jaded centers on a young woman named Ruthie, who had lost all faith in the Lord when she was shunned from her church at a a young age. (No, she's not an Amish.) Though she is now an adult and working two jobs, she still gets funny looks when she runs across the church members on the street.

Everything changes for Ruthie when a single pastor moves to town. What starts out as a friendship between the two, quickly changes to romances. However, Ruthie's past might spoil any chance for a "happily ever" ending.

The sequel, Justified, is set in the same small town called Trapp, Texas, where the gossip always spreads quickly. It picks up the events of the previous novel where the side-character Fawn Blaylock informs her rich parents that she is pregnant. Now cut off from her family, Fawn must deal all the gossip that the townsfolk are saying behind her back. Not for sure if she should be in a relationship with the baby's father, Fawn questions her life.

The only friends Fawn can turn to is Ruthie (aka, the main character from the first book) and JohnScott (Ruthie's cousin) as she struggles with her future and her faith.

It's not a secret that I love to read a good mystery now and then. From a Sherlock Holmes classic to a James Patterson crime novel, pretty much all mysteries appeal to me.

Christian films don't get a lot of marketing from the mainstream media unless it stars a big name Hollywood star or there is some sort of controversy behind the film. Your best chances of finding out about upcoming and recently released Christian DVDs is to search online for them.

Released last year to DVD from Lightworx Entertainment is the Christian crime-drama Ashes of Eden. Written & directed by Shane Hagedorn, the film stars Steven Sutherland, Melissa Anschutz and Michael Joiner.

Ashes of Eden centers on Red (played by Steven Sutherland), a teenager who has turned to a life of drugs and crime ever since his father had died. After being released from jail, Red quickly falls back into old habits and gets expelled from high school, even though he had only a short time left before graduation.

Being a disappointment to his police officer mother (played by Melissa Anchutz) and his younger brother Jake (played by Drew Wise), Red comes up with a way to help his family pay the bills. After finding a drug stash hidden at his girlfriend's (played by Mayra Leal) home, Red, along with his pal Vargas (played by Bello Pizzimenti) comes up with the plan to sell the drugs for a hefty profit.

Unfortunately, the drugs belong to Red girlfriend's brother Carlos (played by Carlucci Weyant), who seeks out revenge.

Shaun the Sheep is a spinoff of the popular British stop-motion animated Wallace and Gromit franchise. Set on the Mossy Bottom Farm, Shaun is the smartest sheep of the flock. He is also looking for something exciting to do, if the farm sheepdog Bitzer doesn't get in his way. A feature-length film, Shaun the Sheep Movie, was released last year.

Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer's Llamas first premiered in USA last November on Amazon Video. The 30-minute special centers on Farmer, Bitzer (both voiced by John Sparkes) and Shaun (voiced by Justin Fletcher) going to country fair. After noticing that three llamas were being sold at an auction, Shaun comes up with a clever plan to get Farmer to bid on them.

As soon as the llamas arrive at Mossy Bottom Farm, chaos erupts. Bitzer tries his best to keep the farm in top shape, but the llamas are running wild, destroying nearly everything in sight; while at the same time, the sheep herd are having a good laugh about everything. Well, all except for Shaun the Sheep, who must find a way to save the day and the entire farm.

Now available to own on DVD and Digital HD from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is Strawberry Shortcake: Campberry Stories, featuring 3 episodes from the computer-animated series.

Strawberry Shortcake was first introduced as a greeting card character for American Greetings in 1980. The character became so popular that a slew of merchandise, television-specials and animated series quickly followed.

The latest series, Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures, aired from 2010 to 2015. The "Campberry Stories" DVD contains three episodes from the series - "Tall Tale Trio," "Berry Big Tale Teller," and "The Berry Bitty Great Race."

The 3-part episodes centers on Strawberry and her pals heading off into the woods for their annual campout. While Apple Dumpling tries to make a how-to-video on how to put up a tent, the rest of the girls sits around a campfire and tells tall tales. In the first episode, Orange, Plum, and Cherry tell some outrageous stories; Sweet and Sour tells an imagined adventure in the second episode; and Apple gets to tell everyone about how she won the "great race."

I tend to ignore made-for-TV movies that are based or inspired by real crime stories as they just don't appeal to me; which was probably why I never heard of the film Caught. Directed by Maggie Kelly, the film debuted last November on Lifetime. I only heard about the movie when MarVista Entertainment released the film to Digital HD and On Demand platforms this year.

Caught centers on a housewife, Sabrina (played by Anna Camp), and her younger sister, Paige, (played by Amelia Rose Blaire) kidnapping a teenager named Allie (played Stefanie Scott). It seems that Allie has been fooling around with Sabrina's husband, Justin (played by Sam Page), so Sabrina comes up with the perfect plan to get revenge.

As far as Paige is concerned, they are just going to scare Allie by keeping her tied up in the attic for a few hours and then they'll let her go. Right?

Unfortunately, Justin comes home early, ruining Sabrina's plan, well, more like changing her plans, which results in a death and a little mayhem.

Believe it or not, but the Power Rangers franchise wouldn't exist if it wasn't the for the long-running Japanese series Super Sentai. Saban Brands (the creator/owner of the Power Rangers) used costumes, props, zords and footage from the Super Sentai series to make the Power Rangers seasons, which the tradition continues today.

The first Super Sentai series, titled Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, debuted in 1975, which involved five twenty-somethings that transform into superheros. Each new series that followed had a new cast, costumes, zords, and villains. The franchise is currently in it's 40th season (series). There are also over fifty feature films.

For the first time ever, the Super Sentai: Ninja Sentai Kakuranger: The Complete Series is now available in the United States thanks to Shout! Factory, featuring all 53 episodes. There are no special features or extras on the 10 disc set.

Originally airing in Japan from February 1994 to 1995, the Ninja Sentai Kakuranger is set about a hundred years after the war between the Youkai and the ninjas. The war ended when the Youkai Commander Nurarihyon and all their energies were sealed away by Sarutobi Sasuke and the ninjas. A few of the Youkais survived by living as humans for centuries, well that is until they tricked Saizou and Sasuke (descendants of Kirigakure Saizo) into opening the sealed door and releasing all the energies, giving the Youkai the ability to transform into their original form.

Due to the new threat on Earth, the ninjas give Saizou and Sasuke strong powers and the ability to transform into Ninja Blue and Ninja Red. Three other Saizo descendants are summoned as well - Tsuruhime (Ninja White), Seikai (Ninja Yellow) and Jiraiya (Ninja Black). Together, they must battle the Youkai army with their Ninja powers, weapons and zords.

Everybody knows the Dr. Seuss, one of the greatest children's book authors of all time, but many of you (including me) probably didn't know that he also wrote the screenplay (under his real name, Theodor Seuss Geise) for the 1953 musical-fantasy film The 5,000 Fingers Of Dr. T.

For the first time ever, the film will be arriving on Blu-ray today from Mill Creek Entertainment. Directed by  Roy Rowland, the film starred Tommy Rettig, Mary Healy, Hans Conried and Peter Lind Hayes. There are no special features or extras on the single-disc.

The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T centers on a young boy named Bart Collins (played by Tommy Rettig) who hates getting piano lessons from his stranger teacher, Dr. Terwilliker (played by Hans Conried). Despite his complaints to his mother, Heloise (played by Mary Healy), he is forced to put up with Dr. T.

While practicing the piano, Bart falls asleep and dreams of being tapped inside the Terwilliker Institute, which is operated by the evil dictator, Dr. T, who has built a large piano that will take 500 boys (5,000 fingers) to play it. Bart's mother has been hypnotized into becoming Dr. Terwiliker's personal assistant and future bride.

Bart must some how save his mother, but first he must try to outrun Dr. T's guards. His only hope lies in the plumber August Zabladowski (played by Peter Lind Hayes) to help rescue his mother and stop Dr. T's mad plan.

Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, as well as flopping at the box-office, it did receive a earned a 1953 Academy Award nomination for "Best Scoring of a Musical Picture" for the score by Frederick Hollander with lyrics by Dr. Seuss.
