Review - Perky Jerky

Finding food with a high amount of protein can be difficult, especially if you live in a small town with limited amount of stores. Yes, whey protein shakes are a great for getting that extra amount protein, but if you are on the go, you don't have time to blend a shake.

Beef Jerky has high amounts of protein, but it also has a high amount of fat and other added preservatives that your body doesn't need. Luckily, we now have another option thanks to Perky Jerky!

What is Perky Jerky? Perky Jerky is a beef and turkey jerky brand that is high in protein, but doesn't contain any preservatives, nitrites or added MSG, except for Soy Sauce. Each tender cut of meat has been marinated overnight in a blend of natural ingredients, such as Guarana.

After hearing good things about the brand, Perky Jerky was nice enough to send me two 2.2oz. packages, Perky Jerky: Ultra Premium Beef Jerky and Turkey Perky Jerky: Ultra Premium Turkey Jerky, to try out for this review.

I've been looking to add more protein in my diet and the bags of jerky I've been finding have way too much fat in it. Each Perky Jerky has 2 servings per package. For the beef jerky (per serving), there is 90 total calories, 15 calories of fat (2 g), 530mg of sodium, 6g of carbs, 5g of sugars, and 11g of protein. The turkey jerky (per serving) has 60 total calories, 0 fat, 190mg of sodium, 4g of carbs, 4g of sugars and 11g of protein.

Both Perky Jerky beef and turkey comes in four different flavors - original, teriyaki, hot & bothered, sweet & spicy. The brand is available at: Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Sears, 7 Eleven and many other stores. It can also be ordered from www.perkyjerky.com.

The Perky Jerky samples I received tasted great. Each piece of meat is extremely tender and it isn't as salty as other brands. The added Guarana in each bite gives you an extra boost of energy, which is great right before a workout. Overall, I think Perky Jerky is tasty and it can make a great healthy snack anytime of the day. I highly recommend it.
