Inspired by "Duel" by Richard Matheson, the father/son team of Stephen King and Joe Hill wrote the short story "Throttle" that has been adapted into a comic book series by Chris Ryall. NetGalley and IDW Publishing have kindly allowed me to review issue one of the upcoming hardback Road Rage that will contain the entire series.

The original plot of "Duel" was about an ordinary traveling salesman being stalked on the highway by a mad truck driver. For the King/Hill version, we no longer get a salesperson, but we get a gang of bikers. The bikers are not likeable, mostly thieves and murderers. After stopping for the gas, they just happened to fool around with a trucker's rig, which they would later regret. As the gang heads down the road, the trucker speeds up. The trucker does not just stalk them, he runs them over.

There is not much happening in issue one, besides for the character's back-story, which takes over half the issue. After that, it is just carnage leading up to cliffhanger. I have to give credit to the artist for the bloody artwork. Overall, it was an okay read, as I did not care for any of the characters.
