Review - Beneath the Attic by V.C. Andrews

*This is a sponsored review. All opinions are 100% mine.

"Once upon time, there was four siblings who were forced by their mother to live in their grandparent's attic for nearly 3 ½ years. Thanks to a crazed grandmother, rat poison, and a little bit of incest, the children's experience in the attic was a nightmare."

Does the story sound familiar?

The current most successful horror film series is The Conjuring Universe, which is loosely based on the real-life cases of the paranormal investigators/demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. Since the first film, The Conjuring, was released in 2013, the franchise has taken in over $1 billion at the box office.

The latest entry in the series "Annabelle Comes Home" is the third film in the spinoff "Annabelle" series (and it's the 7th film overall in The Conjuring Universe). The film was released to theaters on June 26, 2019 and despite mixed reviews from mainstream critics, it took in over $228 at the box office.

Today, Annabelle Comes Home (R; 106 mins; $35.99) was released on Blu-ray and DVD from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. It's also available to own on Digital. Written and directed by Gary Dauberman, the film stars Mckenna Grace, Madison Iseman, Katie Sarife, Patrick Wilson, and Vera Farmiga.

Annabelle Comes Home centers around Judy Warren (played by McKenna Grace), the young daughter of Ed and Lorraine (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga), who is left at home with a babysitter, Mary Ellen (played by Madison Iseman), while here parents leave overnight for an investigation. Everything is going smoothly until Mary Ellen's best friend, Daniela (played by Katie Sarife), shows up, does a little snooping inside the Warren's artifacts room, unlocks Annabelle from her locked glass box, and unleashes all the evil spirits from the room, which leads to a night of unbelievable terror.

Blu-ray Special Features:
  • The Artifact Room and the Occult
  • The Light and the Lore
  • Behind the Scenes: The Ferryman/Demon, The Blood Bride, The Werewolf

Blu-ray Review: Do or Die (1991)

*This is a sponsored review. All opinions are 100% mine.

Mill Creek Entertainment; AMAZON
Do you remember last week when I reviewed GUNS? (If not, then read the review here!) Well, today I'm reviewing 1991's Do or Die (R; 96 mins; $19.98), which was recently released to Blu-ray from Mill Creek Entertainment. It comes with a Digital Code that can be redeemed on movieSpree.

Do or Die is the sixth installment of the Triple B (or otherwise known as the "Bullets, Bombs and Babes") series directed by the late Andy Sidaris. It stars Dona Speir, Roberta Vasquez, Pat Morita, Erik Estrada, Bruce Penhal, Cynthia Brimhall, William Bumiller, Michael Shane, Ava Cadell, Carolyn Liu, and Stephanie Schick.

Inspired (or more like a ripoff) by the classic short story The Most Dangerous Game, Do or Die centers around Masakana 'Kane' Kaneshiro (played by Pat Morita), an international crime boss who's hellbent on taking down Molokai Cargo (The Agency) by hiring 6 pairs of assassins to murder the L.E.T.H.A.L. Agents.

Bonus Features include:
  • Introduction by Director Andy Sidaris
  • Audio Commentary
  • Behind the Scene Featurette

Monday Morning Madness: Annabelle & Horror Books

It seems autumn has indeed finally arrived in the midwest as the leaves are falling from the trees and the weather is cooler.

Anyway, just like last week I'm combining my Sunday Post (a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Reviewer) and It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (a weekly meme hosted by The Book Date) into one single post.

What Am I Currently Reading?

I didn't get a whole lot of reading finished done last week because I was busy with other things. As I'm writing this, I'm on page 202 of The Institute by Stephen King, which I read quite a bit of this morning. I'm really interest in it so I'm hoping it won't take me more than two days to finish it. I've actually got a reading plan/schedule for this month and it's extremely crammed. My next reads will be Stranger Things: Suspicious Minds and Buckskin by Robert Knott. Then I have 13 horror titles I'll be reading and reviewing later this month.

Blu-ray Review: GUNS (1990)

*This is a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% mine!

 Mill Creek Entertainment; Amazon
The fifth installment of Andy Sidaris's Triple B series (also known as either Bullets, Bombs, and Babes or Bullets, Bombs, and Boobs) GUNS (R; 95 mins; $19.98) was released to Blu-ray ( with a 4K Widescreen Restoration) for the first time last month from Mill Creek Entertainment. It also comes with a Digital Code that can be redeemed on movieSPREE.

Originally released direct-to-video in 1990, GUNS centers on two female L.E.T.H.A.L. agents, Donna Hamilton and Nicole Justin (played by Dona Speir and Roberta Vasquez), being targeted by an arms smuggler, Juan Degas "Jack of Diamonds" (played by Erik Estrada). He has hired two assassins to dress up like women and murder the agents of Molokai Cargo (The Agency).

What's the purpose of this plot?

Degas is planning on smuggling advanced weapons into the United States from Hawaii and the only the L.E.T.H.A.L. agents are standing in his way. Therefore, he hires the assassins to distract The Agency. However, things don't go his way as Donna and Nicole figure out his plan and seek out to stop him with a little help from a rocket launcher.

Bonus Features include:
  • Introduction by Director Andy Sidaris
  • Audio Commentary
  • Behind-the-Scenes Featurette
  • Trailers
