Monday Morning Madness - Enola Holmes, Murder Thy Neighbor, and Monster, She Wrote

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer!

Good Morning, Everyone!

The local Salvation Army accepts donations every other week, and last week was it, so I spent most of my free time helping my mother go through my grandma’s belongings that have been in a storage locker for a year and a half. We made about a dozen trips to the Salvation Army throughout the week.

FYI: My grandmother is doing fine in the nursing home.

I went through a closet and donated six boxes full of books to the Salvation Army and gave three other boxes of books to a family friend. I disassembled an old oversized TV stand that I had been using as a bookcase in my bedroom and got rid of it. I dragged out the my dresser and left it out with the garbage. Then I took apart the hand-me-down bed frame and stored it in the shed.

Why did I do all this?

I needed to get my grandma’s furniture out of storage. I took her iron headboard and bed frame, a six-drawer dresser with a tall mirror, a cedar chest, and a loveseat. My mother took the chest of drawers, a glass-cabinet TV stand, and a curio cabinet. Besides the last two, I had to lift everything else by myself, so my back is sore.

Also, I took a small bookcase that has seen better days. I went through some of my grandma’s books and took the ones I wanted, such as Eugenia Price, Victoria Holt, Janice Holt Giles, and a few other authors. There are a few other boxes of books in storage that I must go through today.

What Am I Reading?

As you can probably guess, I didn't have time to read last week. I would like to read Enola Holmes: The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer today or tomorrow before the Netflix movie is released on Wednesday.  After that, there are several eBooks I need to read for upcoming book tours.

What's New on the Bookshelf?

I picked up Murder Thy Neighbor by James Patterson at Walmart last week. On my Kindle, the only newish is Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror & Speculative Fiction by Lisa Kroger and Melanie R. Anderson.

  1. Isn't it amazing the stuff that accumulates? Sounds like you've been busy! And I'm glad your grandmother is doing okay.

Hope your week is a good one!

  2. I watched the Enola Holmes film recently, it was pretty good. I don't think Sherlock and Mycroft were faithfully portrayed, but I didn't care much :) Never read the books, though, even if my youngest daughter has.

I genuinely cherish the thoughts and insights of my readers, and I wholeheartedly welcome your engagement. However, to foster a truly constructive dialogue, I’ll be keeping a careful eye on the comments section. This means I’ll be moderating to weed out any spammy detritus, overly harsh critiques, or contributions that don’t add anything meaningful to the conversation. Think of it as my little corner of the internet—a space where everyone can share their perspectives without the noise. Let’s make this a place where ideas can flourish and grow, rather than wither away in the shadows of irrelevance.
