31 Days Of Halloween: Tricks & Treats For Halloween

Inside the Halloween Treasure Chest!
There are only 28 days until Halloween Night, so there is no better time than today to start preparing for it. Whether you're decorating your front yard & house with creepy decorations or decorating your class room for a fun Halloween party, finding the right gifts, candy, and props is essential.

Each and every year, I decorate my yard with foam tombstones, orange lights, an airblown inflatable witch & Frankenstein's monster, and other spooky things.

Depending on the weather, there are between 120 to 145 trick-or-treaters at my door every year. Instead of giving away one piece of candy to each kid, I put together little treat bags full of candy, a Halloween goodie (toy, pencil, etc.), and a sticker.

This year I'm teaming up with Oriental Trading to feature four of their spooky products from their Halloween Store, which has over 5,000 items (costumes, decorations, candy, party supplies, and craft items). They are currently having a Sale up to 50% OFF on Halloween items.

With so many Halloween things on their website, it took me awhile to pick out a few products to review. Eventually, I decided on reviewing the Halloween Treasure Chest Toy Assortment, Gross Out Candy, Animated Ghost, and the Peanuts Halloween Stickers.

The "Halloween Treasure Chest Toy Assortment" retails for $19.99. It comes with 12" cardboard chest and an assortment of 100 little Halloween toys.

The cardboard chest will have to be assembled, which only takes a few minutes to complete. The 100 piece set has a mixture of small and medium size toys. It has plastic rings, marble mazes, whistles, pumpkin stress balls, 2 footballs, pencils, kaleidoscopes, small plastic slinkies, stencils, skeleton key rings, 2 little Halloween figures, and eyeball clackers.

The toy assortment reminds of the prizes I would win playing games at classroom Halloween party back when I was in elementary school. Some of the toys are a little too big to put in a trick-or-treater's bag, like the footballs and pencils, but all the other ones are small enough to fit. While there not high-quality-made, they're still cute little toys that would be great to give to trick-or-treaters or give away as prizes at a party.

The "Gross Out Candy Assortment" retails for $25.99, but it's currently on sale for $19.98. It features individual wrapped gummies, suckers and hard candies.

There are slimy gummy worms, tart suckers with eyeball packaging, hard candies shaped as small human bones, eyeball gumballs, and eyeball gummies.

At first glance, theses candies do look look kinda gross, especially the gummy worms. Kids will get a kick out the candies, especially at a Halloween party. My two favorites from the mix is the gummy eyeballs and worms.

The "Peanuts Halloween Stickers" retails for $2.99 per roll with 100 stickers. All the stickers feature Snoopy on them with the sayings "Happy Halloween," "BOO!," "Trick Or Treat!," "So Cute, It's Scary," and "Fang-Tastic." There is a tear-off line on each sticker, so you can easily cut or tear the stickers off of the roll.

Who hasn't seen the classic animated television special It's A Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown?

At under $3, the Snoopy stickers are a simple and cheap way to add something different to a trick-or-treat bag or as a prize for a Halloween party.

Measuring at 5 ft. tall is the "Animated Ghost," which retails for $35.

The head/face is made out white plastic. The eyes and mouth are big stickers that are already attached to the face. The sound/movement device is attached underneath the head/face. The arms are made out of wires with foam over them. The body is made out of a long white mesh. There is a plastic loop/hook on the very tip top of the head, so it can be hung.

I'm always looking for a new decoration to add my yard every year, and the Animated Ghost seems to fit to the bill.

It looks pretty harmless, like Casper the Friendly Ghost, well, that is until you get close enough to it to activate the sound and movement. Then it will shake and make spooky sounds. There is an ON/OFF switch as well as a "Try Me" switch. It requires 3 AAA batteries (included).

Overall, I do like all the goodies from Oriental Trading. The candies are sweet, the Snoopy stickers are cute, the toy are fun, and the Animated Ghost is spooky!

You can find these items and others on "The Halloween Store" section on the Oriental Trading website

  1. I have to give you major props for giving out non candy items! More people should. My son has a feeding tube and does not eat candy. So non food items are always a plus for those who cannot or should not eat treats.
