Dark Road Home
by Anna Carlisle
Pub. Date: July 12, 2016

Description: The summer after she graduated from high school, Gin Sullivan's little sister Lily went missing. Her family fell apart, not to mention her relationship with her high school sweetheart, Jake. Now, almost twenty years later, Gin is living in Chicago and working as a medical examiner when she gets the call: a body's been found in the woods outside her small hometown. It could be her sister. After all these years, it's time for Gin to go home and face the demons she tried to leave behind.

Billy's Thoughts: I read about this title a few months ago and it does look interesting. The cover is really simple, leaving me guessing as to what the book is about.

Time Siege
by Wesley Chu
Pub. Date: July 12, 2016

Description: Having been haunted by the past and enslaved by the present, James Griffin-Mars is taking control of the future.

Earth is a toxic, sparsely inhabited wasteland--the perfect hiding place for a fugitive ex-chronman to hide from the authorities.

James has allies, scientists he rescued from previous centuries: Elise Kim, who believes she can renew Earth, given time; Grace Priestly, the venerated inventor of time travel herself; Levin, James's mentor and former pursuer, now disgraced; and the Elfreth, a population of downtrodden humans who want desperately to believe that James and his friends will heal their ailing home world.

James also has enemies. They include the full military might of benighted solar system ruled by corporate greed and a desperate fear of what James will do next. At the forefront of their efforts to stop him is Kuo, the ruthless security head, who wants James's head on a pike and will stop at nothing to obtain it.

Billy's Thoughts: The woman on the cover reminds of Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider games.

The Revival
by Chris Weitz
Pub. Date: July 19, 2016

Description: The teens forge a new world in this epic conclusion to The Young World trilogy. After the emotional cliffhanger of The New Order, shocking events take place for Donna, Jefferson, Kath, and their tribe as they face their greatest challenge yet—how to hold the new city-state of New York against a ruthless attack from the Old World. Heart-stopping action and exciting new revelations will leave readers hungry for the final installment in the series.
Billy's Thoughts: Yep, here is another YA series that I've never heard of.

Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ
by Carol Wallace
 Pub. Date: July 19, 2016

Description: As one of the bestselling stories of all time, Lew Wallace’s Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ has captivated and enthralled millions around the world—both in print and on the big screen. Now Lew’s great-great-granddaughter has taken the old-fashioned prose of this classic novel and breathed new life into it for today’s audience.

Coming to theaters in August 2016 as Ben-Hur, a major motion picture from MGM and Paramount studios, the story follows Judah Ben-Hur, a Jewish nobleman whose childhood friend Messala betrays him. Accused of trying to murder the new Roman governor in Jerusalem, Judah is sentenced to the galley ships and vows to seek revenge against the Romans and Messala. But a chance encounter with a carpenter from Nazareth sets Judah on a different path.

Rediscover the intrigue, romance, and tragedy in this thrilling adventure.

Also included: the inspiring story-behind-the-story of Lew Wallace—Indiana lawyer, author, and Civil War general.

Billy's Thoughts: Yes, one of the last things that we need is another remake. However, the remake of Ben-hur is somewhat underrated as it hasn't been getting much attention in the media. I'm still not for sure if I want to see the film when it is released to theaters, but I just received an advanced copy of the novelization and I'm looking forward to reading it.
Miss Marianne's Disgrace
by Georgie Lee
Pub. Date: July 19, 2016

Description: Trapped in the shadow of her mother's notoriety, Miss Marianne Domville feels excluded from London society. Her sole comfort is composing at her pianoforte—until author Sir Warren Stevens brings a forbidden thrill of excitement into her solitary existence…

Through his writing, former navy surgeon Warren escapes the memories of cruel days at sea. So when he finds Miss Domville's music and strength an inspiration, he's certain the benefits of a partnership with this disgraced beauty will outweigh the risks of scandal…if she'll agree to his proposal!

Billy's Thoughts: While I do like reading some Harlequin titles, I have never read any of the historical ones as the covers have never appealed to me. However, this one gets my complete attention.

  1. I like the Ben Hur cover best, and the Dark Road Home cover is a good one too.
