Seaweed Powder Review & Giveaway

While I have heard of eating seaweed (kim nori) as a snack, I wasn't aware that there was a seaweed powder used to make face creams and masks until I was sent the Seaweed (Kelp) Powder (Certified Organic Atlantic Kelp Powder) to review, though I did know that some people put seaweed powder in their green smoothies/shakes.

Seaweed is a nutrient-rich plant that contains iodine and other sea water minerals (such as vitamins B12) that are good for a person's body. It is known to lower LDL Cholesterol, blood sugar and reduces cancer risk (such as breast cancer). It is also a great way to add iodine to your diet.

I was sent an eBook with over 20 different seaweed cosmetic recipes with this 8 oz container of Seaweed (Kelp) Powder. I didn't have all the ingredients to make any of the recipes, so I just did my own thing. I mixed a tablespoon of the Seaweed (Kelp) Powder, a few drops of extra virgin olive oil, a few drops of water and then mixed it together. I experimented with it to get the right texture to use it as a face scrub. Let me just say that you need some sort of scent (like peppermint oil) to add it as the mixture had a strong seaweed odor.  Anyway I left the seaweed mixture on my face for a few minutes before scrub it off.

Now there is no way to see major results from one application, but my face did feel cleaner. Overall, I am pretty impressed by the Seaweed (Kelp) Powder, though I am going to look into purchasing all the ingredients to make the seaweed face mask.

You can purchase the Seaweed (Kelp) Powder on Amazon.com.
