Review: The Vampire Hunter's Daughter: The Complete Collection

I've been a vampire fan since I can remember, watching movies and reading books from the genre, so I eagerly read through The Vampire Hunter's Daughter in one night, courtesy of Bewitching Blog Tours.

The book opens up with a fourteen-year-old Chloe Kallistrate being awakened by her distraught mother in the early morning, telling her to hide in the closet as they are coming for her. Who is coming for her? Blood-sucking vampires of course!

The vampires murder her mother right in front of her and she was going to be next, but her grandfather suddenly appears saving her. She soon learns that her mother is from a line of vampire hunters. When her mother was a teenager, she fell for a vampire named Trevor, who happens to also be Chloe's father.

Chloe wants to avenge her mother's death, but first she must train to be a vampire hunter. She finds herself living in a small community, where all the people are hunters or hunter-to-be. She trains, goes to school, and even dates a few boys, but then her father Trevor finds her and Chloe knows she can no longer run from her destiny.

The Vampire Hunter's Daughter contains all six short stories by Jennifer Malone Wright, who has created a fun and interested main character Chloe, that somewhat reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which I'm a huge fan of. Chloe acts just like a typical teenager, but she has a little more weight on her shoulders. The book is fast-paced at only 222 pages, so it can be easily read in one sitting. I enjoyed reading every minute of and I recommend it to other readers. The good news is that Chloe will be back in an upcoming new series called The Arcadia Falls Chronicles.

About the Author:

Jennifer Malone Wright resides in the beautiful mountains of northern Idaho with her husband and five children. Between the craziness of taking care of her children, whose ages range from fourteen all the way down to six months, and being a homemaker, Jennifer has little time left for herself. The time she does have left, usually leading far into the night, is spent working on freelance work or her beloved fiction.

When she grew up, Jennifer always had her nose in a book. She has been writing stories and poems since grade school. This love of the written word and her strong interest in the paranormal is what has led to her first novel “The Birth of Jaiden.”

In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Jennifer is also a very proud military wife. Moving around the country for the last ten years has made her a bit of a nomad and she finds it difficult to be in one place for too long.

Jennifer is also the author of The Birth of Jaiden, a paranormal novel filled with action, suspense, and even a love story.
