Book Blogger Hop

Question of the Week: Highlight one of your favorite reviews from the past month!

My Answer: I recently read an ARC of The Hallowed Ones by Laura Bickle, where several strange murders are occurring outside of a small Amish community. The main character is a teenage Amish girl named Katie who has just entered into her Rumspringa years. The Amish elders decide that no one can step in or out of their community. Katie finds an injured man and brings him home, but this man may actually be a creature of the night. You can read my full review here.

Question of the week: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

My Answer: The Twilight books by Stephenie Meyer! I remember reading the first book when it originally came out in 2005. I thought it was an average read, forgettable, and I still believe it is a ripoff of Buffy the Vampire Slayers (the series not the movie). Nevertheless, I still bought ever sequel that came out and they have been sitting on a shelf collecting dust. Maybe one of these days when I'm really bored, I'll attempt to read them. I've seen the godawful movies and I'm almost daring myself to write up an honest review on each of the first four movies in November prior to the release of Breaking Dawn, Part 2. Let me warn you that I'm not a fan of the movies either, so my reviews may not be liked.

  1. Yup, seeing this answer a lot. I liked most of Twilight okay, except for the end of the 4th one. I thought it was a cop-out. Old Follower. My FFs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Friday! :D

  2. Funny Twilight is a popular answer this week along with 50 Shades of Grey, which started out as a Twilight fanfict. Hmmm… but I'll be honest I loved the 50 Shades series. Yes, it was poorly written but I couldn't help but like the abused, damaged BDSM loving billionaire. LOL

  3. @Cimmaron @ Talksupe

I have the 50 Shades of Grey books, but I have never attempted to read them.

  4. @Liesel K Hill

I've only read the first book and of course I have seen the 5th movie as it isn't even out yet, but I kinda figured that the author would cop-out with the ending.

  5. I only read Twilight because people were raving about it. I thought the first one was okay but they got worse as the series went on. I only read the last book because I was already committed to the series. I won't be reading anything else by Stephanie Meyers.

  6. Ooooh that book sounds interesting, coming to check out your review!

  8. Yes! I used to love this series, but now I just can't even look at it. Totally overhyped.

  10. I've seen Twilight a lot. I don't hate Twilight, but I certainly don't love it. But I can see why people were so caught up in it. And I love how much attention it brought to teen literature.

  11. NO! Don't read the rest.... there is no payoff at the end that makes it worth it!! (The Twilight series was my choice for over-hyped too).

  12. I like twilight. Book but it was hype up :) new follower FF follower back
