I broke down and watched the first movie once it was on TV and I just didn't get it. So I bought the book. I liked the first, but not the rest. But Harry Potter? I could read over and over again. But I think hype is very important. After all, where there's smoke, there's fire! And it definitely helps if the book (or books)in question have been, or will be, made into movies!

Love your answer! I will have to give it a try next week.
I am actually less likely to read a book if I wait until it is all the buzz, although I am not strictly opposed to it in any way. I am usually the girl that is in a mad dash to read a big name book so I can see the movie with my friends who have all read it. Kind of funny, really, considering that I am the one in our circle who reads more than any of the others.
- BelleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5761121254257540428.post-48491674154223565242013-06-28T17:51:04.966-05:002013-06-28T17:51:04.966-05:00I started buying the Harry Potter books for my mid...I started buying the Harry Potter books for my middle daughter (who is now 24), because she said, "Mom! EVERYone is reading them!" Also the Twilight series books (I liked a couple of them, but not all). I've been afraid to buy the Sookie Stackhouse series because I've seen them described as "literary crack" :)Julie https://www.blogger.com/profile/01670155947411449802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5761121254257540428.post-12274656713546667702013-06-28T12:32:36.948-05:002013-06-28T12:32:36.948-05:00The media too can easily influence me into buying ...The media too can easily influence me into buying a book.Vonniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03987861951233408815noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5761121254257540428.post-23887257647637521512013-06-28T09:10:02.682-05:002013-06-28T09:10:02.682-05:00I feel like I should have read your blog before I ...I feel like I should have read your blog before I wrote mine since we had a couple of the same answers, lol.
http://ashleynemer.blogspot.com/2013/06/book-blogger-take-9.htmlAshley Nemerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01303841504912648250noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5761121254257540428.post-63778040987193166832013-06-28T07:57:34.777-05:002013-06-28T07:57:34.777-05:00I read what I want to read but I usually find out ...I read what I want to read but I usually find out books through other people not because of the hype.
Katelynn Clark
literarychameleon.blogspot.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10704269774343945808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5761121254257540428.post-2932196033521623012013-06-28T06:22:49.562-05:002013-06-28T06:22:49.562-05:00I check out a hyped up book, but don't read it...I check out a hyped up book, but don't read it just because of the hype.
