Q&A with Jane Ederlyn, author of Reborn

Now available from Soul Mate Publishing is the paranormal thriller Reborn, book in the Princess of the Blood Series by author Jane Ederlyn.

The authors have taken a few minutes out of their busy schedule for a Q&A about their newest novel.

When did you become interested in storytelling?

For as long as we can remember we’ve been creating and writing in some form. We both wanted to eventually write novels, but it wasn’t until we tried doing it together…that it all fell into place.

What was your first book/story published?

Reborn is our debut and it just released October 19th.

What inspired you to write Reborn?

We are huge fans of the genre. If it’s about vampires…we’ve seen the movie or read the book. But Reborn happened after returning from seeing a vampire movie. Over coffee, we started asking ourselves what if this? and what if that? Before we knew it, our heroine and her world emersed.

What character in Reborn is the most/least like you, and in what ways?

Jane: Each character has a part of us, but I think I’m most like our heroine, Marie. Obviously I’m not a vampire, but I love shoes.😁

Ederlyn: I’m most like Abby, primarily because she’s afraid of the dark. Yes, I know—a vampire writer afraid of the dark.

What is your favorite part in Reborn?

Jane: When our heroine goes to see her infant son after being turned and he wasn’t afraid of his mother. In fact, he liked her glowing vampire eyes. Ederlyn: My favorite part is a black moment in the story. No spoilers. But even knowing what’s going to happen, I always get emotional when reading it.

What was the hardest part to write?

The end. We wanted to keep going…and that’s why there are at least two more in the series.

What would your ideal career be, if you couldn't be an author?

Jane: Well, we both have day jobs we love. But if not an author, another dream job would be a rock star/opera singer.

Ederlyn: A librarian or museum curator. And if I could time travel even better.

Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you pay any attention to them, or let them influence your writing?

We love when readers discuss our characters because for so long they were just in our heads. They do influence us actually, especially when everyone is reacting the same way to a character or scene. Hopefully it’s what we intended.

What well-known writers do you admire most?

Jane Austen, Anne Rice, Charlaine Harris, Heather Graham…to name a few.

Do you have any other books/stories in the works?

We are working on the sequel, Return, and a contemporary retelling of Jane Austen.

By the way, we are definitely coffee addicted. 😊 Thank you for having us!
